Plymouth State Rolls Past Franklin Pierce, 13-2

WELLINGTON, FLA. (March 21, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce women's lacrosse team suffered a tough 13-2 setback to Plymouth State University this afternoon at the Spring Fling in Wellington, Florida.

Senior Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) led Plymouth State offensive attack with a game-high four goals, while classmate Megan Cupoli (Southboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) recorded three points on one goal and two assists. Senior Annie Pinault (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) paced the Panther office with a game-high three assists, while freshman Taylor Campbal (West Yarmouth, Mass./Tabor Academy) and senior Liz Boddy (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter) chipped in with two goals apiece.

Sophomore Carla Savini (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) led the Franklin Pierce charge with a team-high two points on one goal and one assist, while freshman Meghan Masterson (Sharon, Mass./Sharon) added her first collegiate goal. Senior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) chipped in with one assist.

Franklin Pierce opened its scoring late in the first period as Masterson registered her first goal of the season at the 12:19 mark off an assist from Savini. In the second half, Savini netted the Ravens second goal of the contest just 12:51 into the period off an assist from Pietraszuk.

Senior captain Erin Hopkins (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) became the program's all-time, single-game, saves record holder with 33 stops in the contest. The veteran goaltender recorded 17 saves in the first half, and 16 stops in the second frame.

Franklin Pierce (0-2, 0-0 NE-10) will be in action again tomorrow as it takes on Smith College at 9 a.m. Plymouth State (3-1, 0-0 LEC) will face Fredonia State College tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
