Saint Leo Falls 12-6 to Visiting No. 7 Limestone

Saint Leo, Fla. (March 21, 2007) – The Saint Leo University lacrosse team (3-5) fell 12-6 to visiting No. 7 Limestone College (6-1) on Wednesday night in a non-conference game played at University Field.

The Lions were led by Benjamin Brigham (So., Scituate, Mass.) and Mark Dargon (So., Newton, Mass.) who each scored two goals in the game. Limestone's Colin Bell scored three goals and Jay Tranello posted two goals. Justin Haworth also scored a pair of goals in the win for the Saints.

Limestone jumped out to an early lead with the opening goal of the game, but the Lions tied things up on Brigham's first goal of the night with 8:55 left to play in the opening quarter. The Saints went on to score the next seven goals unanswered to open up an 8-1 lead.

Saint Leo answered by scoring the final two goals of the first half, and continued its run by cutting the deficit to three with the opening two goals of the third period. Limestone made it 9-5 with a goal 39.6 seconds from the end of the third quarter, and the Lions answered with a goal in the final second of the third to make it a 9-6 game.

However, the seventh-ranked Saints scored the game's final three goals in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin and win their third straight.

Saint Leo will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday to face Belmont Abbey College at the Jacksonville Bolles School. Game time has been moved to 1:00 p.m.

TAMPA, Fla.-- The No. 8-ranked Limestone College men's lacrosse team defeated Saint Leo University 12-6 on Wednesday night. The Lions slip to 3-5 overall as the Saints climb to 6-1 for the season.

Limestone's Colin Bell (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) scored three goals, as Jay Tranello (Syracuse, N.Y.) posted two goals and two assists. Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.Y.) tallied a pair of goals and dished out an assist, while Allen Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y.) chipped in one goal and one assist.

Limestone travels to Wheeling, W.Va., to play Wheeling Jesuit on Sunday, March 25 at 12:00 p.m.
