CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Twentieth-ranked Rowan University got three or more goals from four different players en route to a 16-10 women's lacrosse win over host Washington College tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Profs improved to 3-3 with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-5 with the loss.

Rowan held a 10-5 lead at halftime, but the Shorewomen scored the first three goals of the second half to trim the lead to two. Senior midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) scored a free-position goal with 23:11 left in the second half to make it 10-8. Rowan stopped the Washington rally by scoring the next three goals, building a 13-8 lead when Tori Hart found Caitlin Meseroll for a goal with 19:30 remaining. The Profs led by at least four goals the rest of the way.

Kelly Angstadt led Rowan with four goals, while Katie Kline and Hart each had three goals and one assist and Meseroll fired in three goals of her own. Carly Welsh added one goal and three assists for the Profs. Shana Smeriglio controlled a game-high five draws. Alicia Mannino made nine saves in goal for Rowan.

Washington sophomore attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) led all scorers with five goals. Ruppert and sophomore midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) tallied one goal and two assists each for the Shorewomen, while junior midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and junior defender Lindsay Fox (Laurel, MD/Atholton) each had one goal and one assist. Lambert also tallied a game-high four caused turnovers. Senior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) made nine stops in goal for Washington.

Each team got off 31 shots in the game. Rowan controlled 19 of the game's 28 draws.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against fifth-ranked Franklin & Marshall.
