No. 5 Franklin & Marshall Runs by Washington Col., 18-3

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Franklin & Marshall, the fifth-ranked team in Division III, raced out to an 11-2 halftime lead en route to an 18-3 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse win over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Diplomats improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 3-6 and 0-2 with the loss.

The score was tied 1-1 in the early going and the Diplomats led just 2-1 with 13 minutes left in the half before running off nine goals in the final 12:51 of the period. Sarah Meisenberg scored four goals and assisted on four others to lead the Diplomats, while Shannon Summers scored four goals of her own. Jen Pritchard added three goals and two assists, while Kelly Cassels had three goals and one assist.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) tallied one goal and one assist for the Shorewomen. Lambert also had a game-high three caused turnovers. Sophomore attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) and junior attacker Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) accounted for Washington's other goals.

F&M held a 34-19 advantage in shots in the game and controlled 15 of the game's 22 draws.

The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. home game against North Carolina Wesleyan.
