Saint Leo Downs Belmont Abbey, 12-2
Jacksonville, Fla. (March 24, 2007) – Sophomore Chris Storrie (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Saint Leo University lacrosse team (4-5) to a 12-2 win over Belmont Abbey College on Saturday. The game was played at the Jacksonville Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla.
Saint Leo's Benjamin Brigham (So., Scituate, Mass.) also scored two goals and added two assists in the game, while Ryan Harris (Sr., Vestal, N.Y.) registered three goals in the win.
The teams were tied 2-2 after one period, and the Lions scored a pair of goals in the second to open up a 4-2 lead at half-time. Saint Leo then took control with a five-goal third quarter, giving the Lions a 9-2 lead. SLU completed its run of three straight shutout quarters by outscoring Belmont Abbey 3-0 in the fourth to provide the final margin.
Saint Leo freshman goalie David Erdman (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) made 17 saves to earn the win.
The Lions return home on Tuesday to face Southern New Hampshire University at 4:00 p.m.
