Washington College 16, North Carolina Wesleyan 4

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College scored on its first nine shots of the game en route to a 16-4 women's lacrosse win over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen, who held a 16-4 lead at halftime, improved to 4-6 overall win the win, while the Battling Bishops fell to 3-9 with the loss.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) scored three goals, tallied one assist, and controlled four draws for the Shorewomen. Junior midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and freshman attacker Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) each scored three goals, while senior midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) had a goal and three assists.

Senior attacker Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) and sophomore attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) scored two goals each. Senior midfielder Beth Stevens (Easton, MD/Easton) added a game-high five caused turnovers. Senior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) made nine saves for Washington in the victory.

Katelyn Guinn scored two goals for the Battling Bishops, while Sarah Matulich had one goal and two assists.

Washington held a 29-15 advantage in shots and a 29-18 advantage in ground balls in the game. The two teams combined for 58 turnovers, 32 of them by North Carolina Wesleyan.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against McDaniel.
