Hood Romps to 20-0 Win Over Wells

FREDERICK, Md.—Seven different players scored for the Hood College women's lacrosse team in a 20-0 Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference victory over the visiting Wells College Express Sunday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Blazers secured their first win of the season and improve to 1-3 overall, 1-0 in the AWCC, while Wells drops to 0-4, 0-1 AWCC.

Hood scored early and often against the Express in what is believed to be the first shutout in Blazer women's lacrosse history. The Blazers outshot Wells 42-4 on the afternoon and built a 12-0 advantage at halftime.

Freshman Brandy Noel, Hood's leading scorer on the season, registered a team-high seven goals, one away from the single-game school record held by current Hood assistant coach Tiffany Still (8, vs. Ferrum, 2003). Laurie Burrier, Liz Rakowski and Rachel Loss all netted hat tricks in the triumph, while Jayme Frost scored a pair of goals and Jen Graham and Christa Lundskow added single tallies. Burrier also assisted on four goals to finish with seven points.

Lauren Lieb faced just four shots on the day and turned away three of them and did not allow a single score.

The Blazers return to action Wednesday hosting Trinity University (D.C.) in an AWCC game at 4:00 p.m.
