Hartwick Men's Lacrosse Downs Saint Vincent
WILLIAMSPORT, PA. -- The tandem of Lee Austin (Duxbury, Mass.) and Dan Hushion (Farmingdale, N.Y.) accounted for seven goals to lead Hartwick to a 12-5 victory over Saint Vincent, Monday afternoon in men's lacrosse action on the campus of Lycoming College.
Hartwick, which improved to 4-2 overall, jumped out to a 5-2 lead at the half en route to collecting its third-consecutive victory. Austin netted five points on the afternoon, which included four goals, while Hushion recorded three tallies and added an assist against the Bearcats.
The Hawks also received two goals each from Pat McCormack (Camillus, N.Y.) and Brandon Wilk (Hillsborough, N.J.), while Steve Caramello (Duxbury, Mass.) also chipped in a goal as well.
The Hawks used three goalies in the decision over Saint Vincent. Jason Fautas (Holtsville, N.Y.) played the first half and got credited with the victory. The senior hauled in nine saves and allowed two goals in 30 minutes of action.
John Meade (Ocean Beach, N.Y.) played 25 minutes of the second half, allowing two goals, while collecting five saves. Freshman Greg Polcari (Duxbury, Mass.) allowed one goal and registered two saves in his first collegiate action.
Hartwick, which outshot Saint Vincent 35-32, went two for four in man-up situations, while the Bearcats went scoreless in two man-up advantages.
The Hawks posted an 18-10 victory over Saint Vincent on March 17, 2006 in Oneonta, a game in which Austin tallied five goals and an assist against the Bearcats.
The Hawks return to action, Wednesday evening as they host Empire 8 rival, Utica at All-Weather Field. The game begins at 7:00 p.m.
