BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a five-goal lead and never looked back, cruising to an 18-7 non-conference victory over Wheaton on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears (4-2) are ranked sixth in the latest IWLCA Poll, while the Lyons (0-5) drop their fifth-straight to open the season.

Bridget Keating scored four first-half goals, while Taylor White and Kate Donoghue added two apiece to lift the hosts to an 11-3 advantage at the break. Keating finished with a career-high five goals for Bowdoin, who also received three tallies apiece from White and Christina Denitzio. Emily Straus led Bowdoin with a goal and three assists.

Wheaton was paced by three scores from Bridget Thornton and a pair of goals from Caitlin Grant. Kristin Konig was peppered with shots, making 16 saves for the Lyons. Stephanie Collins-Finn (five saves, 30 minutes, three goals against) and Kat Popoff (nine saves, 30 minutes, four goals against) split time between the pipes for Bowdoin.

Wheaton will return to action in their home-opener against Springfield on Saturday, while Bowdoin will travel to Wesleyan.
