Hamilton Falls to No. 8 Ithaca, 15-8

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Matt Nelligan '08 scored five goals and assisted on two others to help lead nationally ranked No. 8 Ithaca College to a 15-8 non-league win against host Hamilton College at Campus Road Athletic Field on March 27.

Ithaca (8-1 overall) has won seven straight games. Nelligan leads the team with 30 goals. Logan Bobzien '08 chipped in four goals and three assists for the Bombers. Kevin Bush '08 added two goals and one assist. Brandon Rose '08 led Ithaca with seven ground balls. Matt Hammes '07 won 9 of 13 faceoffs and Matthew Ruhnke '09 won 8 of 12. The Bombers won 17 of 27 faceoffs.

Mike Daley '07 paced the Hamilton offense with four goals. Clark Winter '07 scored one goal and was credited with his team-high eighth assist. Marc Albu '08 won five faceoffs and collected five ground balls. The Continentals dropped to 2-4 with all four losses against teams ranked in the Top 10 in Division III at the time.

Daley's second goal of the game (and fifth this season) cut Hamilton's deficit to 5-4 with 3:55 left in the second quarter. Bobzien made it 6-4 just 42 seconds later with his 12th goal and Bush gave Ithaca a three-goal cushion with 11 seconds remaining before the break on his 16th goal.

The Bombers clinched the victory in the third quarter as they outscored the Continentals 6-1. Nelligan had three goals and Bobzien notched two as Ithaca boasted a 13-5 lead through 45 minutes.

Hamilton hosts Skidmore College in its Liberty League opener on Saturday, March 31, at noon. The Bombers travel to Utica College for an Empire 8 contest on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
