New Haven, Conn. - Lauren Taylor and Jenn Warden scored three goals each to lead No. 16 Yale to a 13-9 win over UMass Wednesday afternoon at Johnson Field. The Bulldogs had an 8-1 lead early in the second half before having to hold off a UMass comeback attempt.

Yale (7-3) scored the first four goals of the game, including two by Taylor, one by Warden and one by Marya Myers. After Kathleen Typadis got UMass on the board the Bulldogs reeled off four more. Taylor notched her third of the game, her 37th of the season, while Linden Ellis, Sara Greenberg and Jessica Sturgill also scored.

Melynda Zwick started the Minutewomen's comeback attempt with the first of her two goals for the game with 25:44 to play. UMass (5-5) would outscore the Bulldogs 4-1 over a span of 7:20, including two of Holly Drown's three goals on the day. Taylor Fragapane had the lone Yale tally in that span.

Kat Peetz' free position goal and an unassisted goal by Warden gave Yale some breathing room at 11-5 with 9:23 to play. After UMass closed within 11-7 Warden's free position goal with 4:33 left, and a turnover by UMass after the ensuing draw control, enabled the Bulldogs to run off most of the final minutes of the game in the UMass end. The Minutewomen did manage two goals in the final minute, and Yale got a goal from Meredith Callahan, to make the final 13-9.

Ellen Cameron made five saves for Yale, while UMass' Lauren McCarthy made 15. Katie Wiacek led the Bulldog defense with three caused turnovers. Taylor now has an 18-game scoring streak, and Warden has a 15-gamer. The Bulldogs resume Ivy League play at Harvard on Saturday.

New Haven, Conn. - Sophomore Holly Drown scored three goals and junior Kathleen Typadis scored four points on two goals and two assists, but it was not enough as No. 16 Yale (7-3) held on for a 13-9 win on Wednesday at Jordan Field. Yale stormed out of the gates in the first half taking a 7-1 lead at intermission thanks to 26 shots. The Minutewomen rallied in the second half cutting the Bulldogs' lead to four on two occassions. UMass will return to action on April 6 when the Minutewomen head to Temple.

Along with Drown and Typadis, junior Melynda Zwick scored two goals on the day to lead UMass (5-5). Defensively, keeper Lauren McCarthy made 15 saves on 37 shots faced. Despite allowing seven first half goals, she made 12 saves to keep the Bulldogs at bay. Junior defender Julie Papaleo tied her career highs with five groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Yale was led by Lauren Taylor's five points on three goals and two assists. Jenn Warden added three goals and six others scored a goal each. Ellen Cameron earned the win in goal making fives saves.

The Bulldogs outshot UMass 37-19 for the game and collected four more groundballs, 19-15.
