Hood Rolls to Second Straight Win, Tops Trinity, 16-2

FREDERICK, Md.--Junior midfielder Britney Colandreo netted four goals while classmate Laurie Burrier and freshman Brandy Noel each tallied three apiece as the Hood College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 16-2 victory over visiting Trinity University Wednesday in an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference game at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Blazers won their second game in a row and improve to 2-3 on the season, 2-0 AWCC, while the Tigers remain winless on the season at 0-5, 0-1 AWCC.

Colandreo got things going from the opening draw as she netted her first goal of the season just 14 seconds in the game off a pass from freshman Jen Graham. Five different Blazers scored in the first half to stake the home team to an 8-0 advantage at halftime.

Hood kept the Tigers off the scoreboard until the 20:36 mark of the second half when Sara Lee Cummings cashed in on a free position shot for Trinity's first score of the contest. Shanita Conley also scored on a free position shot in the final two minutes of the game.

Liz Rakowski netted a pair of goals and an assist in the victory while Graham, Jayme Frost, Lauren Perzan and Christa Lundskow also found the back of the net for Hood. Lauren Lieb turned away three of Trinity's eight shots on the afternoon.

The Blazers return to action Friday, April 5, when they host Ferrum College at 4:00 p.m. for a non-conference game.
