Oneonta State Shuts out Morrisville, 13-0
The Oneonta State men's lacrosse team pulled off a rarity in the sport of lacrosse today by recording a shutout against Morrisville in non-conference action. Shut outs in the sport of lacrosse are few and far between as the Red Dragons dominated play throughout the game. With the win the Red Dragons raised its overall record to 7-1 on the year while Morrisville dropped to 0-3.
Sophomore Mike Evans (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) got things started for Oneonta today at the 13:52 mark of the first period with an unassisted goal. Evans would finish the day with four goals to lead the Oneonta attack.
The Red Dragons had a 7-0 lead at halftime and added its final six goals in the third period for the final margin of victory. Senior Brian Tricoles (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) and junior Kyle Reich (New Hyde Park, NY/Great Neck South) combined for the shutout in goal while combining for 12 saves including nine by Reich who relived starter Tricoles in the third period.
Freshman Phil Picard (Shrus Oak, NY/Lakeland) faced 47 shots and made 18 saves in goal for Morrisville. Oneonta will be back in action this Saturday on the road with a game against Randolph Macon at Swarthmore College beginning at 3:30 p.m.
