Endicott Knocks off Bowdoin, 10-6
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Endicott College men's lacrosse team jumped out to a four-goal lead and never trailed in a 10-6 non-conference victory over Bowdoin College on Wednesday evening. The Gulls (5-1) are ranked 20th in the latest Inside Lacrosse National Poll. Bowdoin (3-3) has dropped two straight games.
Endicott scored four goals in the first 7:35 of the contest to put the Polar Bears in an early hole. Bowdoin clawed back thanks to a Max Key goal late in the opening quarter and a pair of man-up tallies to start the second quarter, closing the gap to 4-3. Endicott answered with goals from Patrick Gaffney and Nick Cosco before Harry Ashforth and Mike Giordano replied for the Polar Bears, making it a one-goal game again at 6-5. But Dan Ryan scored just 1:38 before intermission for the Gulls, giving the visitors a 7-5 edge at the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, Endicott put the game away with a three-goal run to open the fourth quarter. Brandon Dube scored with 3:17 remaining to cap the spurt, making it 10-5. Matt Legg added a late score for Bowdoin to close out the contest.
Eddie O'Reilly and Nick Cosco scored two goals apiece to lead Endicott. Sean Kearney made nine saves between the pipes for the Gulls. Charlie Legg stopped eight shots for Bowdoin, who saw six different players score.
