TOWSON, Md. – Senior midfielder Kate McHarg (Victoria, Australia) scored the game-winning goal with 2:12 remaining in the second overtime period as Loyola College (2-6) snapped a five-game losing streak with an 11-10 double overtime victory over Towson University (3-4) in the 35th all-time meeting between the two teams at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Greyhounds, who now lead the all-time series by a 27-8 margin, have won the last 25 straight games over their Charles Street rivals.

McHarg scored off a feed from junior Alicyn Brunnett (Severna Park H.S./Severna Park, Md.) to end the game which featured four ties, including three in the second half. It was her 12th goal of the season. Led by three goals by junior Kate Filippelli (Archbishop Carroll H.S./Devon, Pa.), the Greyhounds jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first 13:30 of the game. However, the Tigers rallied to take a 6-5 advantage by scoring five of the next six goals, including a pair of tallies by sophomore midfielder Hillary Fratzke (Queen Anne's County H.S./Centerville, Md.) and went into the intermission with the one-goal advantage.

After freshman Emily Gibson (North Harford H.S./Jarrettsville, Md.) tied the game with an unassisted goal at the 3:31 mark of the second half, sophomore midfielder Britt Woodfield (South Carroll H.S./New Windsor, Md.) regained the one-goal lead with her seventh goal of the season, an unassisted marker past freshman goalkeeper Karen Nicolaus (Mount Hebron H.S./Ellicott City, Md.) with 24:53 remaining in regulation. Fratzke upped the lead to 8-6 with her third goal of the game less than two minutes later.

Sophomore Colleen O'Keefe (Oak Knoll H.S./Madison, N.J.) narrowed the margin to 8-7 when she scored off an assist by McHarg before sophomore Meggie McNamara (Fayetteville-Manlius H.S./Fayetteville, N.Y.) gave Towson a 9-7 advantage off a Woodfield assist with 18:23 left in the stanza. The Greyhounds responded by scoring a pair of consecutive goals to tie the game at 9-9 with just over six minutes remaining.

Fratzke gave the Tigers a 10-9 advantage with 4:48 remaining with her fourth goal of the game, a free position shot past Nicolaus. With one minute remaining, Brunnett sent the game into overtime by scoring her third goal of the season off a free position shot.

Filippelli led the Greyhounds to the victory by scoring a game-high four goals while Brunnett and McHarg each added a pair of goals along with an assist. Nicolaus made 13 saves, including three in the overtime periods. Fratzke, who scored her 50th career goal in the loss, tallied four goals for the Tigers while McNamara and senior midfielder Shannon Witzel (Pottstown H.S./Pottstown, Pa.) added a pair of markers.

The Tigers will begin a three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon when they open their Colonial Athletic Association schedule at the University of Delaware. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds return on Saturday afternoon to face Penn State University at 3:30 p.m.
