No. 16 Hamilton Edges No. 13 Cortland, 12-10

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nicole Tetreault '08 tied a career high with five goals to help lead Hamilton College to a 12-10 non-league win against visiting SUNY Cortland in a showdown between nationally ranked teams at Campus Road Athletic Field on March 28.

No. 16 Hamilton (3-2 overall) has won three straight games while No. 14 Cortland has dropped three in a row after it started the year with two victories. The Red Dragons still lead the all-time series against the Continentals with 17 wins and 11 losses.

Tetreault leads Hamilton with 11 goals. Kaillie Briscoe '09 added three goals and one assist. Kate Marek '09 chipped in two goals and won three draw controls. Kalley Greer '07 made nine saves in goal.

Ali Bourgal '07 paced the Cortland offense with four goals and two assists. Bourgal leads the Red Dragons with 21 goals. Andrea Venditti '07 (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker HS) scored three goals. Gina Fazio '07 (Brownville, N.Y./General Brown HS) recorded two goals and one assist. Jennifer Willis '07 registered one goal and two assists. Willis tops Cortland with 10 assists.

The Red Dragons jumped out to a 6-1 lead after Venditti's 10th goal this year with 13:13 left in the first half. The Continentals climbed to within 7-6 with 2:48 remaining, but Bourgal gave Cortland an 8-6 advantage at the break on a free-position goal with 6 seconds left.

Hamilton took control with six straight goals to open the second half. Tetreault had four of the six goals during the deciding run, including the eventual game-winner with 12:26 remaining that made the score 11-8.

The Continentals host Clarkson University for their Liberty League opener on Friday, March 30, at 4:00 p.m. The Red Dragons travel to William Smith College on Saturday, March 31.
