No. 16 Hamilton Coasts by Clarkson, 19-8
CLINTON, N.Y. -- Liz Longley '07 scored two goals and added three assists to help lead nationally ranked No. 16 Hamilton College to a 19-8 Liberty League win against visiting Clarkson University at Campus Road Athletic Field on March 30.
Longley was credited with her 61st career assist on a goal by Inga Stots '07 with 25:49 left in the first half to set a record for most assists in program history. Longley finished the game with 63 career helpers. Kaillie Briscoe '09 chipped in three goals and two assists, and won five draw controls. Jen McGowan '08 and Nicole Tetreault '08 added two goals and one assist apiece. Tetreault leads the Continentals with 13 goals. Lauren Tomford '10 recorded one goal and two assists.
Lindsey Grigg '07 paced the Clarkson offense with four goals. Emily Bojarski '09 (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee HS) registered one goal and two assists. Both Grigg and Bojarski have scored 21 goals this season. Alicia Chace '08 (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland HS) collected four ground balls and won three draw controls.
Hamilton (1-0 league, 4-2 overall) has won four straight games. The Continentals have never lost to the Golden Knights in 22 meetings all-time between the schools. Hamilton jumped out to a 4-0 lead 4:11 into the contest and held a commanding 10-1 advantage with 13:10 left in the first half. The Continentals went into the break with a 12-2 lead. Hamilton went up by 13 goals at 17-4 with 20:35 remaining in the second half when Briscoe scored her 11th goal this year on an assist from Longley.
The Continentals host St. Lawrence University for another league game on Saturday, March 31, at 2:45 p.m. Clarkson (1-2, 3-4) travels to the University of Rochester for a league showdown on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
