FREDERICKSBURG, VA - The ninth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-9 decision to second-ranked College of New Jersey on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 9-3 on the year and have lost to the two top-ranked teams in the nation, TCNJ and Gettysburg, by four goals each this year.

The Eagles opened the scoring at 28:09 on an eight-meter goal by senior Meaghan O'Leary, and regained the lead at 2-1 after a TCNJ goal on a tally by Emily Talbot on a Caitlin Erickson assist at 22:08. The Lions would score six of the game's next seven goals to lead 7-3, but UMW tightened the score to 7-5 at halftime on goals by Erickson and Annie Wisloski in the final 2:03 of the half.

TCNJ scored the first two goals to open the second half, but UMW then scored three straight (on goals by Erickson and two by O'Leary) to cut the deficit to 9-8 with 18:06 remaining. The Lions then erupted for three goals in 1:03. Sarah Finney scored for the Eagles at 13:34, but TCNJ would score the final goal of the game at 7:02 for a four-goal advantage.

Junior goalkeeper Meredith Deitrick turned in an outstanding effort in goal for UMW, with 17 saves and three ground balls. TCNJ's Caitlin Gregory had eight saves, including six after halftime. TCNJ outshot the Eagles, 37-18, and picked up 21 ground balls to 11 for UMW. The Lions also controlled 17 of 24 draw controls.

The Eagles will visit Greensboro College next Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Fredericksburg, VA -- The College of New Jersey's women's lacrosse team recorded a 13-9 road win over the Eagles of No. 9 ranked University of Mary Washington on Saturday. With their win, TCNJ, which is ranked No. 2 in Division III, is now 5-0 overall and winners of 18 consecutive games dating back to 2006. UMW drops to 9-3 on the season.

TCNJ led 7-5 at the break and held a 37-18 advantage on shots for the match-up. Junior Toni-Anne Cavallo (Cedar Grove, NJ/West Essex) led the Lions with her four goals and an assist, while and Karen Doane (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) added three goals and an assist as well.

In net for the Lions, junior Caitlin Gregory (Winslow, NJ/Eastern) came up with another strong performance in net as she finished with eight saves to improve her record in the cage to 5-0. UMW's junior goalie Meredith Deitrick (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) finished with 17 saves in the loss, while the Eagles got four goals from senior Meaghan O'Leary (Westbury, NY/Carle Place), while junior Caitlin Erickson (Cypress, TX/Cy-Fair) tallied two goals and three assists in the game.

TCNJ will put their perfect season and 18-game win streak on the line when they travel to cross state rival, Rowan University for a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Profs on April 4 in Glassboro, NJ.
