Blue Hose Drop Contest to No. 9 St. Andrews

CLINTON, S.C. - No. 9 St. Andrews erased a 5-4 PC advantage at the conclusion of the first quarter in a 22-10 victory in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Old Bailey Stadium.

Presbyterian was outscored 18-5 in the final three quarters.

The Blue Hose were led offensively by George McManus (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) in the loss, who finished the contest with a team-high three goals.

McManus was one of three Blue Hose to score multiple goals as Brian Foley (Charlotte, N.C.) and Billy Rinaldi (Hilton Head, S.C.) each netted two in the game with the Knights.

Sean Mulford (Towson, Md.), Walton Crosby (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Bryce Simantel (Baltimore, Md.) each scored a goal for the Blue Hose.

Mulford also had an assist, while Jeremy Metcalfe (Dallas, Ga.) led PC with two assists.

Ben Ewing (Atlanta, Ga.) had a team-high seven ground balls in the game. Drew Tobias (Greensboro, N.C.) led the Blue Hose defensively, causing a team-high two Knights' turnovers.

Cole Howell and Dalen Crouse led the Knights in the scoring department in the victory, acquiring five goals each.

The duo was part of five-man contingent of St. Andrews players that scored three or more goals.

Zach Mryncza of St. Andrews led all players in the game with a total of 10 points, netting three goals and dishing out a game-high seven assists.

The Knights' face-off specialist Ethan Young was 22-for-32 on face-offs on the day. Young, who left the field of play almost every time after the face-off, finished the contest with a game-high 21 ground balls.

Both teams finished with over 40 shots taken as the Blue Hose attempted 43 on the afternoon, while the Knights took 54 total shots.

Both teams were also proficient on their clears. PC ended the day 18-for-22, while St. Andrews was 14-for-17.

Nate Hull picked up the win in the cage for St. Andrews, saving 12 PC shots. Pat Slaughter (Lutherville, Md.) garnered the loss in net for PC, but saved six St. Andrews shots.

Presbyterian (3-9) has a week off before welcoming Queens to Old Bailey Stadium for a 2:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, April 7.
