Hamilton 18, St. Lawrence 6
CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nicole Tetreault '08 tied a career high with five goals and assisted on two others to help lead nationally ranked No. 16 Hamilton College to an 18-6 Liberty League win against visiting St. Lawrence University at Campus Road Athletic Field on March 31.
Tetreault has 15 points (12 goals, 3 assists) in Hamilton's last three games. She leads the Continentals with 18 goals this year. Kaillie Briscoe '09 chipped in three goals and two assists. Suzy Belmont '07, Liz Longley '07 and Lauren Tomford '10 scored three goals each. Kate Marek '09 was credited with three assists.
Kathryn Durki '07 paced St. Lawrence's offense with two goals and two assists. Lis Reade '07 added two goals. Amanda Forbes '09 notched her team-high 19th goal. Becky Timbers '07 made 15 saves.
Hamilton (2-0 league, 5-2 overall) has won five straight after losing its first two games against teams ranked in the Top 10 in NCAA Division III. The Continentals snapped the Saints' three-game win streak. St. Lawrence (2-2, 3-4) is tied for fourth place in the league standings. Hamilton leads the all-time series between the teams with 14 wins and 11 losses.
Briscoe gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead 28 seconds into the contest. After Reade tied the score with 24:32 remaining in the first half, Belmont put Hamilton up for good just nine seconds later. That goal was the first of seven in a row for the Continentals, who led 8-1 midway through the first half.
The Saints closed the gap to four goals at 9-5 with 2:49 left before the break, but Hamilton's Liz Rave '10 won a draw control and sprinted straight for the net to score her fourth goal this year. St. Lawrence trailed 10-5 at halftime and never recovered. Rave finished with four ground balls and three draw controls.
The Continentals travel to Union College on Friday, April 6, for a showdown that will determine first place in the league standings. The Saints host rival Clarkson University for a league contest on Tuesday, April 3, at 7:00 p.m.
