Wildcats Downed Visiting Chargers, 21-5

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington College downed the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 21-5 in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.

Wilmington opened the game scoring eight straight unanswered goals before the Chargers were able to find the back of the net halfway through the first half. The Wildcats entered halftime holding a comfortable 14-2 lead and never looked back, en-route to the lopsided victory.

Freshman midfielder Amanda Jenkins led the Wildcat attack, netted four goals and dishing out two assists. Junior Colby Bugda and sophomore Kelly Wojciechowski each added a hat trick, while sophomore Katelyn Gibas and senior Melissa Samio each picked up a pair of goals and an assist. Freshman Kellee Byrnes had two goals and two assists, while sophomore Krissy Sfetsas notched a goal and a pair of assists. Junior Amy Waggoner chipped in with a goal and three assists, and sophomore Brittany Shaner added a pair of goals. Junior Kari Maddox rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats, tallying a goal and an assist.

Ashley Ordermann led Dominican, as she notched a hat trick. Ashley Jones added a pair of goals to round out the scoring for the Chargers.

Junior Catie Smith picked up the win, as she recorded five saves before giving way to freshman Amber Smith in the second half. Amber Smith notched two saves for the Wildcats. Dominican's Lindsey Grundfast took the loss for the Chargers, as she had 26 saves between the pipes during a very busy afternoon.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 4-2 overall, while Dominican drops to 0-2 on the season. The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host the Lions of Georgian Court University at 3:00 PM.
