No. 6 Gannon Rebounds with 18-10 Victory at IUP
INDIANA, Pa. - The Gannon women's lacrosse team rebounded from back-to-back one-goal losses to top-3 teams with an impressive 18-10 victory at Indiana (Pa.) Monday afternoon.
Gannon controlled the first half, owning a 13-3 edge at halftime. The Crimson Hawks fought back and out-scored the Lady Knights 7-5 in the second half, but it wasn't enough in an eight-goal Gannon victory.
Krista Schunk (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) led all goal scorers with five goals and one assist. Joanna Culkin (Clifton Park, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) ran the offense to perfection, dishing out five assists while scoring twice.
Shannon Pagano (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) tallied three goals each. Pagano also recorded three assists. Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) and Sarah Belen (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) added two goals apiece.
Dana Rousseau (Easton, Md./Easton) completed the scoring with a single goal. Acacia Cook (Clay, N.Y./Clay-NS) turned away seven shots between the pipes.
Gannon, ranked sixth in NCAA Division II, improved to 8-2. Indiana (Pa.) dropped to 4-3. The Lady Knights return to action Wednesday, April 4 against C.W. Post at Gannon University Field. The Pioneers are ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
