Tori Leads Bears Past Eastern, 11-4
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Anthony Tori (Springfield, PA/Springfield) tallied seven points on three goals and a game-high four assists to lead Ursinus past Eastern 11-4 in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Tuesday.
With those four assist, Tori moves into a tie for 10th place on the all-time conference assists list with 94, putting him six away from 100 for his career.
Pat Nagle (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) netted his third hat trick of the season, while Scott Boyle (Media, PA/Penncrest) recorded four points with one goal and a season-high three assists for the Bears (7-2).
The Eagles (2-5) were led by Michael Ryan with two goals and Kyle Dresser had a goal and two assists for three points.
Ursinus held a 5-2 halftime lead, before exploding for five goals in the third quarter for its fourth straight win.
Just a minute into the game, Tori connected with Boyle for the first goal while Eric Farris (Pottsgrove, PA/Pottsgrove) finished a feed from Jason Patterson (West Chester, PA/Unionville) for an early 2-0 lead after the first quarter.
Once again, Tori opend the quarter with another goal off an assist from Boyle, before Dresser found the back of the net for Eastern and make it 3-1.
The Bears scored two more goals off assists from Tori to Patterson and Nagle for a 5-1 advantage.
With sevens seconds left in the half, Ryan got the second Eastern goal.
Ursinus came blazin after the break, scoring three consecutive goals including two from Nagle with one coming on an extra-man opportunity in the first seven minutes of the third quarter.
At the 4:35 mark, Ben O'Donnell interrupted the Bears run but Farris and Boyle quickly responded with two goals to finish out the third with a 10-3 lead.
Jason Orlando (Morton, PA/Springfield) won five of his six face-offs taken and grabbed seven ground balls, while Tony Aquilino (Abington, PA/Archbishop Wood) made nine saves. Sean Tillman (Phoenix, MD/Loyola-Blakefield) also added a goal and assist in the win.
Ursinus returns to action on Apr. 11 at Haverford. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
