CORTLAND, N.Y. – Eleven different players scored goals as the Cortland men's lacrosse team defeated nationally seventh-ranked Ithaca College, 15-4, Wednesday night at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. With the win, the Red Dragons evened their record at 4-4, while the Bombers had an eight-game winning streak snapped and fell to 9-2 on the season.

Junior Chris Hannon (Baldwin) led Cortland with three goals. Juniors Billy Fuchs (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) and Ryan Heath (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) each recorded two goals and two assists, while senior Ryan Simensky (Locust Valley) and freshman Kevin Keown (Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) added a goal and an assist each. Sophomore Michael Robinson (Alexandria, VA/Thomas Edison) started in goal and made nine saves in 53 minutes, six seconds before giving way to junior Mike Paolucci (Apalachin/Vestal), who did not register a save in the final 6:54.

For Ithaca, junior Matt Nelligan (Rowley, MA/Pingree School) led the offense with a pair of scores. Freshmen Dan McGuffie (Penn Yan/Penn Yan Academy) and Nic Heckman (Sparta, NJ) each tallied a goal. Senior goalie Dennis Butler (Pleasantville) made 13 saves in 48:10 before sophomore Ben Connery (Homer) stopped one shot in 5:28 and sophomore Collin Meadow (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) closed out the final 6:22 without making a save.

Cortland took a 2-0 lead after the first quarter, then built a 5-1 advantage at the half. The Red Dragons put the game away by outscoring the Bombers, 6-0, in the third quarter for an 11-1 lead. Cortland held a 4-3 advantage in scoring in the fourth quarter for the final of 15-4. The Red Dragons won 14-of-23 faceoffs, outshot the Bombers, 39-29 and held a decisive 46-32 advantage in ground balls.
