18th-Ranked Ursinus Downs Bryn Mawr, 10-3
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Stephanie Kaysen (Media, PA/Penncrest) and Elizabeth Cannon (Garrison, NY/James I. O'Neil) combined for nine points to lead No. 18 Ursinus past Bryn Mawr 10-3 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Thursday night.
Kaysen scored a game-high four goals with an assist, while Cannon dished out a game-best three assists and added an assist to help the Bears (7-3, 3-0 CC) post their 13th straight in over the Owls (3-7, 0-3 CC).
Georgia Lawrence scored two goals and Stephanie Hilton made 11 saves for Bryn Mawr.
Ursinus recorded five goals in the first half and matched that same amount in the second half for its third conference win.
The Bears scored the first six goals of the game, getting two goals apiece from Lisa Clark (Media, PA/Penncrest) and Kaysen. With one minute, 30 seconds into the game, Clark scored and two minutes later Cannon found Kaysen for the 2-0 lead.
Leah Kramer (Bishopville, MD/Stephen Decatur) and Kaysen exchanged goals, before Cannon picked up her second assist on a Kaitlin Glenn (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) to make it 5-0 at halftime.
Clark tallied her second goal at the 25:03 mark of the second half, before Allison McMahon put the Owls on the bears with 18:39 left in the game. Lawrence sandwiched two free-position goals with a goal by Cannon to cut the lead to 7-3.
Ursinus ended the game with three unanswered goals, including two more from Kaysen and one from Amy Sezack (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) off a pass from Cannon for the seven-goal margin.
Allyson Shicora (Media, PA/Strath Haven) and Alex McBride (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) each played a half in the net. Shicora made four stops, while McBride tallied six saves for the Bears.
Ursinus held a 34-21 shot advantage and 9-6 edge in draw controls. Glenn had four draw controls, while Cindy Taylor (Schwenksville, PA/Boyertown) and Melissa Dunn (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) grabbed three ground balls apiece.
The Bears return to action on Saturday at No. 2 Franklin & Marshall. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
