Wilmington Falls to Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, NY -- The Wildcats of Wilmington College fell to the host Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 13-9 in women's lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon.

St. Thomas entered the half holding a 7-4 lead, and held on in the second half as they came away with the victory.

Wilmington was led by junior Colby Buda, who netted a pair of goals and an assist. Sophomore Kelly Wojciechowski added two goals, while classmates Katelyn Gibas, Krissy Sfetsas, and junior Amanda Beasley each tallied single goals.

The Spartans were paced by five goals and an assist from Kim DeLorenzo. Aime Colon added a hat trick and two assits, while Jennifer Bruen chipped in with a pair of goals. Katelyn McDonagh, Anne Harley, and Lindsay Lawless rounded out the scoring with single goals apiece.

Catie Smith (5-1) took the loss in net for Wilmington, as she recorded nine saves in goal. Kailey Brown picked up the win for St. Thomas as she notched seven saves between the pipes.

With the loss, Wilmington dropped to 5-4 on the season, while St. Thomas Aquinas improved to 2-5 overall. The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to take on the Chargers of Dominican College in a 3:00 PM game.
