Dillon's Seven Goals Lead #16 William Smith by Clarkson

GENEVA, N.Y.—Senior midfielder Sarah Dillon (Blair Academy/Oldwick, N.J.) exploded for a career-high seven goals and five assists to lead the William Smith College lacrosse team past Liberty League foe Clarkson this afternoon, 23-11. The Herons, ranked 16th in Division III, improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while the Golden Knights drop to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Eleven Herons scored in the win, including three-goal, one-assist performances from senior Jessica Scott (Waynflete School/Portland, Maine) and first-year Molly Fitzgerald (Gould Academy/Sudbury, Mass.). Sophomore Caitlin Leone (Auburn/Auburn, N.Y.) tallied two goals and an assist, while first-year Sarah Goodkind (Millbrook School/Riverside, Conn.) also tallied twice. Junior Alicia Chace (Cortland/Cortland, N.Y.) was the high-scorer for Clarkson with three goals and a helper.

Junior goalkeeper Morgan Baird (Pingree School/Gloucester, Mass.) recorded her third win of the year, picking up eight saves for William Smith along the way, while senior counterpart Erin Duffy (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) stopped 18 shots for the Golden Knights.

The Herons will be back in action tomorrow when they take on St. Lawrence for another league match up in Canton at 12:30 p.m.
