Tetreault Scores Five as No. 10 Hamilton Tops Union
Nicole Tetreault '08 scored five goals and assisted on two others to help lead nationally ranked No. 10 Hamilton College to a 13-6 Liberty League win against host Union College at a chilly Frank Bailey Field on April 6.
Tetreault, who was named a Division III Upstate region co-Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Tuesday, remained hot on Friday. She leads the Continentals with 23 goals and 30 points. Tetreault has 17 goals and five assists in the last four games.
Hamilton (6-2 overall, 3-0 league) has won six straight games. The Continentals' last win against Union was recorded in 2001. The 19th-ranked Dutchwomen (3-3, 2-1) had won the last eight games against Hamilton.
Suzy Belmont '07 tallied three goals for the Continentals. Kaillie Briscoe '09 chipped in two goals and two assists. Liz Longley '07 added one goal and two assists. Jen McGowan '08 notched two goals and won three draw controls.
Kalley Greer '07 made 10 saves and collected five ground balls. Greer helped keep Union at bay by stopping six of eight shots in the second half. Liz Rave '10 was credited with three draw controls.
Belmont scored 30 seconds into the contest and the Dutchwomen never led. The score was tied at 2-all after a Union goal with 24:18 left in the first half, but Hamilton broke the game open with five straight goals. Tetreault had two goals and an assist during the run. The Dutchwomen finally stopped the bleeding with 5:37 remaining before the break. The Continentals eventually took an 8-4 lead into halftime.
Hamilton clinched the victory with three goals in a span of 2:15 midway through the second half. Union's first goal of the second half came with 13:08 left and cut the Continentals' advantage to 11-5. Tetreault provided the exclamation point to Hamilton's big win with an unassisted goal with 49 seconds remaining.
The Continentals travel to Skidmore College for another league game on Saturday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m.
