Keegan Scores Six to Lead Le Moyne Past Vermont

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Amanda Keegan scored six goals and teammate Kylie Rosette added five points to lead the Le Moyne Dolphins past visiting Vermont, 19-8, in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

LeMoyne took a 4-0 lead to start the game. Vermont countered, scoring four of the next five goals to cut the margin to one, 5-4, with 9:16 remaining in the first half. However, the Dolphins blew open the game by rolling off six straight goals to take an 11-4 lead and held a 12-6 advantage at halftime. LeMoyne would go on to outscore UVM 7-2 in the second half to post the victory, the fifth in a row for the Dolphins.

Lauren Byrne, Megan Burgoon and Rosette each scored three goals to lead LeMoyne. Samantha Falcone and Alex Dwyer combined to make 10 saves in net for the Dolphins. Dwyer made seven saves in the second half alone.

Sophomore Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario) led the Catamounts with a hat trick. Vermont received one goal each from Tori Wasson (Lake Forest, Ill.), Alison Haigh (Northborough, Mass.), Jennifer Maher (Waterbury Center, Vt.), Kaitlyn Fuller (Jordan, N.Y.) and Lizzy Butler (Concord, Mass.). Meaghan Hanley (Fort Pierce, Fla.) and Ali Trainor (Severn, Md.) combined for 12 saves for Vermont.

The Catamounts fall to 3-9 on the season, while LeMoyne improves to 9-4 overall. Vermont will be back in action on Wednesday (April 11) when it travels to Binghamton for an America East Conference game at 4:00pm.

GAME NOTES: Two Catamounts are on the verge of reaching the century mark in points. Senior Becky Kenison (Woodstock, Vt.) is just one point shy of 100 for her career, while Millar has tallied 96 points (including three vs. LeMoyne) in her one-plus season at Vermont. The most recent UVM player to reach 100 points was current all-time leading scorer Vanessa Cox '05.
