Connecticut College 18, Mount Holyoke College 4

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College (2-6) rolled to an 18-4 victory against visiting Mount Holyoke College (2-7) in a non-conference women's lacrosse game played on Silfen Field Tuesday afternoon. Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) exploded with five goals on the afternoon, propelling the hosts in the offensive uprising. Senior tri-captain Sarah Chandler (Durham, N.H.) contributed a hat-trick with three scores for the Camels.

Junior tri-captain Lindsey Coit (South Portland, Maine) registered a goal and three assists en route to a four point afternoon. Sarah Miner (Fairfield, Conn.) chipped in with two goals and one assist for the hosts. Junior tri-captain Colby Tallman (Norwell, Mass.) sandwiched a goal around two assists for the winning side.

Emily Mason (Williamstown, Mass.) and Margot Littlehale (Norwell, Mass.) had two goals apiece for head coach Heather McClelland's Camels. Molly Hayward (Swarthmore, Pa.) and Angela Keller (New York, N.Y.) each contributed two assists in the triumph.

Mount Holyoke College freshman Megan Wefald (Granger, Ind.) tallied a hat-trick for the visitors, netting goal #35, 36, and 37 of the season. Mimi Blumenfeld (Berkeley, Calif.) contributed a score for the Lyons. Rookie net-minder Mimi Henry (Concord, Mass.) finished with 14 saves in goal.

Christopher put the offense into gear in the early going, netting the first two goals of the game over the opening 3:12. Lindsey Coit added a free position goal and Emily Mason put-back a rebounded shot with 22:55 to go in the first stanza and the hosts enjoyed a 4-0 advantage.

Later on in the half, Wefald tallied her third goal of the afternoon with 13:14 remaining and it was a 9-3 contest. But the Camels put the game away with five unanswered goals over the closing 8:41. Colby Tallman capped the rally with some nifty stick-work, feeding Sarah Chandler for a one-timer with 1:17 to go. With just one second remaining in the half, Tallman beat the buzzer with a score and the hosts had their largest lead at the intermission, 14-3.

The Camels scored the first three goals of the second half but it was more than enough for freshman Jenna Ross (Longmeadow, Mass.), who stopped eight shots in the triumph.
