Devils Handle Mules, 11-3
(Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and were in control for the better part of the game a they posted an 11-3 win over Muhlenberg.
The Red Devils opened the game with a 6-0 run, taking a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Dickinson held an 8-1 lead at halftime and tacked on three more after the break. The Red Devil defense was solid all afternoon. They kept the Mules off the board untila John DeLuca tallied a fast-break goal at the 13:12 mark of the second period.
Four players scored a pair of goals for the Devils. Seniors Brian Mohler (Baltimore, MD/Loyola), Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) and Scott Dalgliesh (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) each scored twice and handed an assist. Classmate Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) added two goals as well.
First-year Al Golod (Lloys Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor) controlled the midfield with a game-high eight ground balls. Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) won 9-of-11 face-offs and controlled six ground balls on the day. Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) and Russ Matthews (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) combined for nine saves. Andrew Bell gave a strong performance in goal, stopping eight shots for Muhlenberg (5-5, 1-5).
The Red Devils improve to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to #12-ranked Washington College for a 4:00 face-off on Saturday.
