Gannon Rolls Past Seton Hill 26-2

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's lacrosse team scored the first 11 goals and rolled past Seton Hill 26-2 Wednesday night at Gannon University Field. The fifth-ranked Lady Knights out-shot the Golden Griffins 50-6.

Gannon shattered numerous school records in the rout. The Lady Knights set a new record for margin of victory (24) by three, for team points (50) by 10, for goals in a home match (26) by one, and for assists (24) by seven.

Bentley's Alyssa Ritchie is the only other Division II player to accomplish the feat, dishing out eight assists against Southern New Hampshire.

Abbey Lighton (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) needed only 41 seconds to put Gannon on the scoreboard, scoring off an assist from Culkin. The goal started an 11-0 run. Lighton tallied three goals in the opening run.

Seton Hill scored its only goal of the first half 14:06 into the match. Gannon responded with nine consecutive goals while holding the Golden Griffins without a goal for the next 31 minutes and 34 seconds. The Lady Knights then posted the final six goals of the evening for an easy 26-2 victory.

Culkin led all scorers with nine points, recording one goal and eight assists. Lighton was second with eight points, being an equal-opportunity lender with four goals and four assists.

Shannon Pagano (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) added seven points each. Pagano had two goals and five assists while Millerd had five goals and two assists.

Krista Schunk (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima), Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette), and Melissa Hill (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) recorded hat tricks.

Acacia Cook (Clay, N.Y./Clay-NS) started in goal, making one save in 30 minutes. Ashley Dodge (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) played the second half between the pipes and also needed only one save in 30 minutes of action.

Gannon owned large advantages in shots (50-6), ground balls (32-19), face-off wins (23-7), and draw controls (23-7).

Gannon improved to 9-3 while Seton Hill dropped to 1-11. The Lady Knights return to action Saturday, April 14 against seventh-ranked Limestone (S.C.) at Gannon University Field. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
