#1 Salisbury Cruises by Villa Julie in First-Ever Meeting

SALISBURY, Md. * The top-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse came out on fire Wednesday before 347 at Sea Gull Stadium as the Sea Gulls welcomed No. 14 Villa Julie College to the Capital Athletic Conference. SU scored the game's first four goals in the first five minutes of play en route to a 19-8 victory in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Salisbury (14-0, 7-0 CAC) now sits alone in first-place in the CAC as the Mustangs (8-3, 6-1 CAC) suffered their first conference loss since joining the CAC this season. The Sea Gulls have now won 61 consecutive regular-season games and 54 straight at Sea Gull Stadium.

Six different Gulls scored two or more goals led by senior Matt Dasinger and junior Greg Titus who scored four goals apiece. Titus now has 50 goals for the season and leads the team in points with 61. Sophomore Kylor Berkman netted three goals and passed out three assists. Senior Eric Bishop added three goals and an assist while juniors Matt Hickman and Greg Baggan scored two goals and two assists. Junior Kevin Kustron scored a goal and fellow junior Brett Yoder had three assists in the win. The Sea Gulls assisted 13 of their 19 goals scored and led 13-2 at the half.

Villa Julie was led by Greg Furshman and Chris Baldwin who scored two goals apiece. Furshman added an assist in the loss. The game was marred by 22 combined penalties as the Mustangs committed 15 and racked up 13 minutes in penalty time. SU scored five extra-man goals, three in the third quarter alone. The two teams also combined for 62 turnovers.

SU outshot VJC 38-22 and scooped up 43 groundballs. The Sea Gulls also held the slight edge in faceoffs (15-of-29). Salisbury played 43 of the 48 student-athletes on its roster. Senior Max Zarchin (14-0) made three saves for the maroon and gold, as he played three quarters and faced 15 Mustang shots.

The Sea Gulls will close out their CAC regular-season schedule with a road game Saturday, April 14 against St. Mary's (Md.) College.
