No. 13 Wesleyan Downs Wheaton, 11-6

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Visiting Wheaton College (3-8) hung tough at Wesleyan University (6-3), ranked 13th nationally in Division III, for 40 minutes as the Lyons recovered from a two-goal deficit early in the second half to knot the score 6-6 on a strong individual run through the Cardinal defense by freshman Brittany King at 21:32 of the second half. It was her 17th goal of the season.

Earlier leading scorer junior Meredith Hurd had posted a pair of Wheaton goals, upping her season total to 28. But the final 20 minutes belonged to Wesleyan, starting with a free-position goal by senior Cortney Tetrault, as she put one home high over the right shoulder of Wheaton netminder senior Kristin Konig (14 saves) at 19:49 for what proved to be the game-winner.

Wesleyan then scored the next four goals in a span of about 10 minutes to up the margin to the 11-6 final, as no goals were scored after freshman Elise Kay took a feed from Tetrault for her second goal of the contest at 9:43.

Tetrault finished with three goals and two assists as she leads Wesleyan in points this year with 33 (13G, 20A). Kaye had two goals and an assist while seniors Jen Bianculli and Lauren Ogden each scored twice for the Cardinals. King had a goal and an assist for Wheaton, which has not beaten Wesleyan since 1985 in an on-again-off-again series that stands 10-2 in Wesleyan's favor.

Wesleyan enjoyed a 38-16 advantage in shots, most of which came in the second half with a 23-6 differential. Wesleyan goalie sophomore Rachel Stemerman picked up six saves.
