Notre Dame Notches AWCC Win over Express
BALTIMORE – Thirteen College of Notre Dame of Maryland players had either a goal or an assist as the Gators beat visiting Wells College, 17-1, on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference game at Alumnae Field.
Twelve players scored goals for the Gators (9-1 overall, 2-0 AWCC), led by three from junior attacker Amelia Yatto (Crofton, Md./St. Mary's High School).
Senior midfielder Tina Money (Shady Side, Md./Queen Anne's County High School) scored twice and had three assists for the second-straight game. She also had a game-high eight caused turnovers and tied for game-high honors with five ground balls and three draw controls.
Junior midfielder Anne Shippen (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country Day School) and freshman midfielder Lauren Terry (Towson, Md./The Catholic High School of Baltimore) each scored twice.
Shippen had seven caused turnovers, five ground balls and three draw controls.
Wells (2-9, 1-2) made 41 turnovers, 32 caused by Notre Dame, and was held to only three shots.
Sophomore midfielder Claire Petersen (Angola, N.Y./Lake Shore High School) scored the lone goal for the Express with 1:45 remaining in the game.
