MISENHEIMER, N.C.-- The Limestone men's lacrosse team edged Pfeiffer University, 13-11, on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, Limestone clinches the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference regular season title with a perfect 5-0 conference record (11-1 overall). The Falcons fall to 1-4 in the CVAC (1-12 overall).

Limestone had a 3-1 scoring advantage in the first quarter, but Pfeiffer fought back in the second to outscore the Saints 6-2. However, the Saints outscored the Falcons 4-1 in the third period and 4-3 in the final quarter for the 13-11 win.

The Saints out shot Pfeiffer 54-27, and had a 42-22 advantage on ground balls. The Saints won 16 of the game's 27 face-offs. Allen Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y.) led the Saints with five goals, while Brock Spilker (Pasadena, Md.) and Ryan Collins (Black River, N.Y.) each scored twice. Jason Brammall (Greensborough, Australia), Michael Poerstel (Annapolis, Md.), Greg Kacinko (Alpharetta, Ga.), and Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.Y.) also scored. Nick Chandler (Holbrook, N.Y.) was 13-for-19 in face-offs and had six ground balls. Brammall and Haworth each scooped up five ground balls. Saints goalkeeper Marty Ward (Syracuse, N.Y.) had nine saves.

Limestone begins CVAC-tournament play on Friday when the Saints travel to Laurinburg, N.C. Limestone enters the tournament as the #1 seed and will play the winner of the #4 Belmont Abbey/#5 Pfeiffer game at 1:00 p.m. The championship match of the tournament will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22. The 2007 CVAC men's lacrosse tournament is hosted by St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
