19th-Ranked Colby Rips Wheaton, 18-3

NORTON, Mass. --- The 19th-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team exploded for 11 goals in the first half on the way to an 18-3 non-conference victory over Wheaton College on Sunday.

Courtney Drake had four goals and two assists to lead the Mules (6-4). Allie Libby added two goals and five assists, while Kate Sheridan had three goals and three assists. Libba Cox finished with two goals and one assist, Becky Julian and Lauren Strazzula both had two goals, and Lauren Barrett, Cary Finnegan and Heather Nickerson had one goal apiece.

Colby scored the first eight goals of the game and led 11-1 at halftime. The game was called off with 10:25 left in the second half due to deteriorating field conditions brought on by Sunday's storm.

Catharine O'Brien played the first half and made four saves for Colby. Keryn Meierdiercks stopped two shots in the final 19:35 of play before the game was called because of the weather.

Colby plays at rival Bowdoin College in a key New England Small College Athletic Conference game Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
