No. 17 Union Rolls Past Harwick, 22-5
ONEONTA, N.Y. – Allie Cuozzo and Allie Toney each tallied five goals as Union posted a 22-5 victory over Hartwick in women's lacrosse action, Tuesday afternoon at Wright Stadium.
The Dutchwomen, who improved to 7-3 on the year, set the tone early in the contest by jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first minute of action. Erin Lawson opened scoring at 29:38 of the first and then Toney followed with a tally at 29:16.
Trailing 6-0, the Hawks got on the board at 23:51 on a goal by Jenev Schilling (Vineyard Haven, Mass.). After Union upped its lead to 8-1, Kelsey Campbell (Camillus, N.Y.) punched in her first goal of the afternoon at 15:24. The Dutchwomen closed the half with seven unanswered tallies, including a marker by Stephanie Cronan with four seconds left, to take a 15-2 advantage into the half.
Campbell opened scoring for the Hawks in the second half at 29:28, but Hartwick wouldn't come much closer the rest of the way. Jamie Boulton (Camillus, N.Y.) and Schilling added back-to-back goals at 19:37 and 18:34 respectively to get the Hawks within 18-5.
Hartwick, which fell to 3-9 overall, returns to action, Friday afternoon as it hosts Empire 8 rival, Elmira in a contest beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Wright Stadium.
