Elizabethtown Falls 13-6 to Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 10-3 overall in 2007 with a 13-6 non-conference road loss to Montclair State University Thursday. Montclair State improved to 9-2 with the victory.

Montclair State out-shot Etown 32-19, and Elizabethtown had 30 turnovers against 19 for the host Red Hawks. Montclair State had a 16-15 advantage in ground balls and a 21-5 edge in caused turnovers, and Elizabethtown held a 13-8 edge in draw controls.

MSU took a 9-1 lead into halftime, and Etown out-scored its host 5-4 in the second half. Katie Caprinolo (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) led Elizabethtown in scoring with three goals, and Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) scored a pair of goals. Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) added one goal for the Blue Jays, and Danielle Schaffer (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) led the Etown defense in caused turnovers with three. Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) led the Blue Jays in ground balls with four.

Marykate DiBenedetto led Montclair State in offensive production with three goals and three assists for six points, and Jennifer Tanis had three goals and one assist for the Red Hawks. Shauna Brocklebank added two goals and one assist for MSU, and Ann Daily and Morgan MacPhee each scored a pair of goals. Nicole Roselle added one Red Hawk goal.

Elizabethtown will return to action in a non-conference road game against York College (Pa.) at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21. It is the make-up of a previously postponed contest.
