#9 James Madison Doubles up ODU to Improve to 11-2

HARRISONBURG, Va., April 19, 2007 -- James Madison seniors scored their team's first five goals to lead the number 6/9 (Inside Lacrosse, IWLCA) Dukes to a 14-7 win over Old Dominion in Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse Thursday afternoon at the JMU Lacrosse Field.

The Dukes, who honored their senior class in pre-game ceremonies, increased their record to 11-2 and remained unbeaten in the CAA at 4-0. JMU won its fifth-straight game. The Monarchs fell to 5-7 (2-3 CAA) with the loss.

JMU Senior Kelly Berger (Columbia, Md./Hammond) opened the game at 23:40 by sprinting halfway down the field to drive a score into the back of the net. After another ODU goal, JMU junior Annie Wagner (Annapolis, Md./St. Paul's) scored twice in less than one minute. The second goal was made when Wagner evaded four defenders and twisted around another to push the Dukes' lead to 7-2 with 8:18 left in the first half.

The Monarchs closed the half with a goal by Noone at 2:33 and opened the second half with another goal just 1:55 into the period, trimming the JMU lead to 7-4.

The Monarchs then scored back-to-back goals of their own, including a free-position goal by junior Kelly Kimener (Oakton, Va./Oakton), to make the score 9-6 at 18:59.

Berger, Bosica, Wagner and junior Natasha Fuchs (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) then scored five of the final six goals of the game, including a quick shot by Fuchs from the right side of the net with 1:22 left on the clock.
