Colorado College 15, Connecticut College 8
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Senior midfielder Robin Harvey (Winchester, Mass.) tallied four goals and two assists, leading Colorado College (6-4) to a 15-8 victory in women's lacrosse action played on Silfen Field at Connecticut College (3-7) Thursday afternoon. Mallory Newton (Darien, Conn.) contributed four goals to go with an assist and Kate Fitzgerald (Sudbury, Mass.) added four scores for the Tigers.
Connecticut College freshman Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) finished with three goals on the afternoon. Lindsey Coit (South Portland, Maine.) chipped in with two goals and an assist. Aly Ridgway (South Berwick, Maine) tallied a goal and an assist for the Camels.
With the game tied at two, the Tigers went on a 5-1 run mid-way through the opening half, building a 7-3 advantage. Harvey scored consecutive goals to get things started and Kate Fitzgerald added two scores to key the offensive flurry. The Camels responded with two goals in the closing moments of the half. Ashley Faber (Cohasset, Mass.) buried a free position shot with 4:25 remaining. With 1:41 to play, Aly Ridgway assisted Sara Christopher for her 18th score of the season and the Tigers lead was cut to two at the intermission, 7-5.
In the second stanza, the Tigers regained their four goal advantage when Harvey netted her fourth score of the day with 15:29 remaining, making it a 10-6 contest. However, the Camels bounced back with consecutive scores to keep it close. Lindsey Coit cashed in on a free position with her 21st goal of the season. With 9:50 remaining, Sarah Chandler assisted Colby Tallman for a score and it was a 10-8 game.
In the closing moments, the Tiger defense shut the door and Mallory Newton added some offensive insurance with two more scores for the visitors, who pulled away to secure the 15-8 victory.
Jess Van Goren (Boise, Id.) finished with five saves in net for the Tigers. Rookie net-minder Jenna Ross (Longmeadow, Mass.) stopped eight shots for the Camels.
