Trinity Scores a 9-7 Victory over Visiting Williams

Hartford, Conn. – Senior captain attackman Curtis Kahn (Cohasset, Mass.) had three goals and an assist and sophomore goalie Alex Palma (Chappaqua, N.Y.) made 17 saves to lead the Trinity College Bantams a 9-7 victory over the visiting Williams College Ephs in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Sheppard Field. Trinity improves to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the NESCAC while the Ephs drop to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in NESCAC play. The Bantams clinch their first bid to the NESCAC Championship Tournament since 2004.

Trinity started the game with a goal by Kahn eight seconds into the contest, but Williams responded with two unanswered goals by junior attackers Michael Vrla (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) and Dixon Hargrove (Wallingford, Pa.). In the second quarter Trinity scored twice in a row to take a 4-2 lead at the half. Trinity kept the pressure on in the third quarter with two goals from Kahn and a third by junior midfielder Sam Slater (Lutherville, Md.).

Williams started their comeback effort in the fourth quarter with Trinity holding an 8-3 lead with 10:54 left to play. The Ephs scored four straight times, including the last by sophomore attackman Kevin Connolly (Simsbury, Conn.) to make it 8-7 with 1:15 left on the clock. Trinity sealed the game with seven seconds left when junior Jeremy Ulan (Scarsdale, N.Y.) tallied his second goal of the game.

Ulan finished with two goals and one assist and junior attackman Kris Tedeschi (Norwell, Mass.) added one goal and one assist for the Bantam offense. Eph senior goalie Michael Gerbush (Glen head, N.Y.) had 12 stops. Vrla scored three goals for Williams.
