#4 Bulldogs Clinch Northeast-10 Regular Season Title

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Bryan Molk scored two of his four goals in the fourth quarter as No. 4 Bryant University rallied from a two-goal fourth-quarter deficit to down Merrimack College 12-11 in Northeast-10 men's lacrosse action Tuesday night at Warrior Field. The loss drops the Warriors to 5-6 (5-4 Northeast-10) while the Bulldogs remained perfect in the conference at 8-0 and moved to 9-2 overall.

Sophomore Greg Rogowski (Cohoes, NY) notched six points on three goals and three assists and freshman Mark Webber (Mansfield, MA) tallied three goals for the Warriors, who have lost two-straight.

Trailing 11-9 entering the final stanza, Molk brought the Bulldogs to within a goal at 11-10 with his 11th of the season at 9:57. Bryan Kaufman evened the score at 11 with his 29th of the year at 9:05, followed by Molk's game-winner - his 12th of the season - 12 seconds later.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first behind goals from Rogowski and freshman Taylor Robarts (Duxbury, MA). The Bulldogs answered back with three of their own to take a 3-2 lead as Kaufman, Corey Crosbie, and Kevin Hoagland tickled the twine behind Merrimack junior goalie Eric Tompkins (Newington, CT). The Warriors closed the quarter with goals from Rogowski and junior Kyle Beaudoin (Acton, MA) to regain a 4-3 lead at the end of one.

Merrimack ran off four-straight goals to open the second quarter and take an 8-3 lead. Webber tallied twice and both Beaudoin and sophomore Jo Pisano (Dedham, MA) each tallied once. The Bulldogs followed with a four-goal run of their own to get to within one at 8-7. Kaufman, Crosbie, Hoagland and Brad Burton each scored for Bryant during the run before Merrimack sophomore Timothy Roy (Lewiston, ME) closed the half with his second goal of the season, making it 9-7 in favor of the home team.

In the third, the two teams traded goals, allowing Merrimack to take an 11-9 lead into the fourth. Molk opened the scoring in the third with a goal at 11:25 before Webber notched his sixth of the year at 5:17. Molk countered with his 10th of the season at 3:46, followed by Rogowski's 35th of the year at 1:38.

Bryant outshot the Warriors 35-30, but Tompkins made only two saves as many of the shots he faced were wide of the cage. Bryant netminder Michael Kennedy stopped seven shots to pick up his ninth win of the season.

The Warriors close out the 2007 regular season with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Dowling College in Danbury, CT this Thursday.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior Bryan Molk (Peabody, Mass.) scored four goals including the game-winner as the Bryant men's lacrosse team clinched its first regular season Northeast-10 Conference regular season title with a 12-11 win over Merrimack College Tuesday night. But the win was anything but easy.

The Bulldogs opened the game with sluggish play and the Warriors took advantage. Scoring on their first two shots of the game, Merrimack quickly jumped out in front 2-0 just over three minutes into the contest.

Bryant would regroup, however, picking up the pace of the game and quickly turning the deficit into a one-goal lead thanks to three quick unanswered goals. Corey Crosbie (Salem, Mass.) got things going with a goal at the 9:45 mark while Bryan Kaufmann (Putnam Valley, NY) hooked up with Kevin Hoagland (Glastonbury, Conn.) to knot the game at 2-2.

Feeling the momentum turn in their favor, the Bulldogs got a strong face-off win from Bryan Molk (Peabody, Mass.). The senior co-captain raced up midfield and found Hoagland who one-timed a high shot past Merrimack goalie Eric Tompkins.
