No. 1 C.W. Post Breezes by Franklin Pierce

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 28, 2007) - C.W. Post eighth-year women's lacrosse head coach Karen MacCrate Henning picked up her 100th career victory Saturday afternoon, as the top-ranked Pioneers celebrated "Senior Day" in style at Hickox Field, defeating visiting Franklin Pierce, 14-1.

Prior to the game, C.W. Post (14-0) honored nine individuals who were playing in their final home game at Hickox Field: seniors Kristy Abrams, Colleen Agostinacchio, Shannon Fabian, Ashlyn Giulianelli, Kristin Godfrey, Lindsay Goldman, Lauren LoMonaco, Kaitlin Murphy and junior Corynne Pereira.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 10-0 lead by halftime, with nine different players scoring goals during that span. LoMonaco opened the scoring off a pass 2:39 in from Fabian (1 g, 4 a), who moved to third place on the NCAA Division II all-time scoring list (329 points), passing Stonehill alumna Katie Lambert (326). Sophomore Jaclyn Napoli and Agostinacchio (1 g, 1 a) followed within the next six minutes, before Giulianelli, Fabian and Jenna Miller (1 g, 1 a) tallied to push the advantage to 6-0 by the 15:02 mark. Samantha Lyons, Giulianelli, Katie Hogan (2 dc, 2 ct) and Abrams (first goal of the year) all followed suit to give the hosts a 10-goal halftime lead.

Freshman Staci Passafiume scored her lone goal of the game 7:24 into the second half, before Goldman netted a free-position shot for her first goal of the year with 18:06 remaining. Lyons fired home a pass from Mallory Poole (3 gb, 2 dc, 2 ct) with 15:04 to go, before freshman Brooke Wayte scored her first college goal with 14:01 left in the game.

Franklin Pierce (2-15), playing in its last game of the season, got on the scoreboard when Jenna Giardina scored her 11th goal of the year off a pass from Emily Taub with 3:37 remaining.

C.W. Post held a 35-8 advantage in shots, and held a 28-24 edge in ground balls. The Pioneers controlled 13 of the game's 17 draws, and failed on only two of their 20 clears. Both teams combined for 57 turnovers (FPC: 32; CWP: 25).

Pioneers goalkeeper Lauren Scipione made four saves with no goals against in her 50:05 of starting action, before giving way to Ann Denning. Franklin Pierce netminder Erin Hopkins made 12 saves in the contest.

C.W. Post wraps up its regular season Tuesday afternoon (May 1), when they travel to Philadelphia University for a 4:30 p.m. draw in East Coast Conference action.

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 28, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce women's lacrosse team suffered a tough 14-1 setback to No. 1 ranked L.I.U.-C.W. Post in non-conference action this afternoon at Hickox Field. The Pioneers out-scored the Ravens 10-0 in the first half to cruise to their 14th victory of the season.

Senior Shannon Fabian (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) led the C.W. Post attack with a game-high five points on one goal and four assists. Sophomore Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) was also solid, totaling three points on two goals and one assist, while senior Ashlyn Giulianelli (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), and classmate Colleen Agostinacchio (Bellmore, N.Y./Kellenberg) registered two points apiece.

Junior Jenna Giardina (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) scored the lone goal for Franklin Pierce, while freshman Emily Taub (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) registered one assist.

C.W. Post jumped out to an early 10-0 lead after the first period of play. Fabian led the Pioneer first half attack with five points on one goal and four assists, while Giulianelli , Agostonacchio, and junior Jenna Miller (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) collected two points apiece.
