Elizabethtown Completes Undefeated MAC Regular Season

MADISON, N.J --- Elizabethtown College completed its first-ever undefeated performance in its Middle Atlantic Conference regular season schedule Saturday by defeating FDU-Florham 12-11 on the road. With the win, the Blue Jays wrap up the 2007 regular season with a 13-3 overall record and a 10-0 mark in the MAC, while FDU-Florham drops to 8-7 overall and 6-4 in the MAC with the loss.

The teams were tied 4-4 at halftime. The visiting Blue Jays began the second half with a 6-1 run over the first 15 minutes to take a 10-5 lead. FDU-Florham cut the lead to 10-7 over the next six minutes, and Elizabethtown scored again to go ahead 11-7 with 8:08 left in the game. The host Devils then scored four unanswered goals in a span of 4:05 to tie the game 11-11 with 4:03 left on the clock. Elizabethtown's Katie Caprinolo (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) scored the game-winning goal with 1:37 left in the game to break the tie.

Caprinolo led Elizabethtown in scoring with four goals, and Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) scored three times. Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/Homeschooled) scored twice for Etown, and Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley), Sarah Gilson (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) and Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) each scored a single goal for the Blue Jays. Etown goalie Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) made 22 saves as FDU out-shot Etown 37-29 over the course of the game.

Amanda Wayne and Laura Gambardello led FDU-Florham in scoring with three goals apiece, and the pair fired off 16 of FDU's 37 shots. Erin Reilly and Lindsey Specht each scored twice for the Devils, and Christine Dunn made 13 saves in the FDU-Florham net.

Elizabethtown will return to action as the host of a MAC playoff semifinal game against an opponent to be determined at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3. The Blue Jays, which hold the top seed in the MAC playoffs and receive a first-round bye as a result, will face the lowest winning seed from Tuesday's MAC quarterfinals.
