No. 6 Hamilton Cruises by Vassar in Liberty Semifinals
CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nicole Tetreault '08 scored six goals and assisted on another to help lead nationally ranked No. 6 Hamilton College to a 19-5 win against visiting Vassar College in a Liberty League championships tournament semifinal game at Campus Road Athletic Field on May 4.
Hamilton (14-2 overall) is the No. 1 seed and has won 14 straight games. The 14 wins are a program record. The Continentals will make their second consecutive appearance in the league tournament title game on Saturday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. against the winner of Union College and William Smith College. Fourth-seeded Vassar (10-5) was making its first appearance in the tournament.
Kaillie Briscoe '09 chipped in three goals and seven assists. Briscoe set program records for most assists (39) and points (76) in one season. Liz Longley '07 added two goals and three assists. Liz Benjamin '09 notched three goals. Kalley Greer '07 made six saves in 49 minutes in goal.
Christine Castellan '08 led the Brewers' offense with two goals.
Hamilton scored six goals in the opening 3:58 of the contest. Vassar pulled to within 9-5 on a free-position goal by Jennie McAllister '10 with 5:32 left in the first half. The Continentals scored the final three goals of the half for a 12-5 lead at the break, and proceeded to shut out the Brewers in the second half. Hamilton added seven more goals in the final 30 minutes.
