Doug Misarti to Take over Kenyon Lacrosse Program

GAMBIER, Ohio – Doug Misarti, former associate head coach at Stevens Institute of Technology and the architect of one of most prolific offenses in the country, has accepted Kenyon College's offer to become the next head coach of the Lords lacrosse program. He'll take over a team that went a combined 23-6 over the past two seasons.

"I am very excited to be joining the Kenyon community as the head men's lacrosse coach," Misarti said. "The College and the athletics department have a strong tradition of excellence and I am proud to be a part of that tradition."

Misarti comes to Kenyon after eight seasons at Stevens. Six of those seasons included Knickerbocker Conference titles, as well as appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament, where the Ducks reached the quarterfinal round in 2004. In each of the past four seasons, Stevens was ranked within the nation's top 25 teams and during that same span, Misarti, the team's offensive coordinator, had the Ducks ranked within the nation's top three in scoring offense. In 2004, they ranked third, while in 2005 and 2007, they ranked second only to national champion Salisbury University. In 2006, the team produced the nation's top scoring average, registering 15.67 goals per game.

While at Stevens, Misarti was promoted from assistant to associate head coach in 2005. He helped develop eight all-americans, five North/South game participants, and 36 all-conference players, including four conference players of the year. Since joining the staff in 2000, Misarti has helped the Ducks to a combined 91-41 record.

A 1999 graduate of Drew University, Misarti first attended and played lacrosse at Washington College, where he was a member of two Division III national runner-up teams. He moved on to Drew for his final two years of college and became a standout attackman for the Rangers. He graduated with a degree in English and went on to earn his master's degree in Education from Centenary College.

Misarti takes over for former Kenyon coach Brendan McWilliams, who resigned in June after posting a combined 33-25 record in four seasons.

"I am looking forward to the 2008 season and building on the team's success," Misarti said. "There's a lot to work with, including a host of returning experienced players and a talented recruiting class."

A native of native of Long Valley, New Jersey, Misarti will move to the area with his wife Alicia and daughter Sarah. He'll start work on campus in early August.
