Jason Fautas Named Assistant Coach at Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick College named Jason Fautas as its men's assistant lacrosse coach, Wednesday morning.

Fautas, a four-year letterman for the Hawks from 2004-2007, accumulated a 19-19 overall mark for Hartwick in net. After starting one game his freshman season, Fautas took over the regular duties in 2005 as a sophomore, going 11-7 overall and making 207 saves and leading the Hawks to the Empire 8 title game against Nazareth. As a junior, he tallied 13.92 saves per game, which led the Empire 8 Conference. In his final year, Fautas started 10 games for the Hawks. He earned his bachelor's degree in management in May of 2007 and is currently working on his master's degree from Northeastern University.

"Jason will be working with the defense and the goalies here at Hartwick," said head coach Bill Bjorness. "His experience as a player with our defensive scheme allows him to have a smoothe transition from player to coach."

Fautas, a a two-year capatin at Hartwick, was the program's 2006 recipient of the Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Award. He also was recognized as the 2007 Harry Mosher Memorial and the Richard Allen Dawkins Memorial award winner. Prior to college, Fautas was a three-sport standout at Sachem High School where he lettered in wrestling, football and in men's lacrosse.

Fautas will make his collegiate debut on the sidelines this weekend as Hartwick travels to participate in the C.W. Post Fall Invitational.
