McDaniel Tallies Early, Often in Win at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Gibbs Preston (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) tallied a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists to lead McDaniel to a 21-3 victory over Moravian in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Matt Buschman (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) added five goals and an assist for the Green Terror (1-0), who tallied no fewer than 20 goals in its second straight season opener.

Three different players tallied for the Greyhounds (1-2), who found themselves in a 16-0 deficit late in the third quarter.

After Buschman finished a Preston feed 1:07 into the game, Preston converted the first of three extra-man goals just over two minutes later.

Preston's second tally sandwiched between two Chris Edmonds (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) solo runs stretched the lead to 5-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) and Buschman found the back of the net 48 seconds apart to push the lead to 7-0 before 3:20 had elapsed in the second quarter.

Four minutes after Preston completed his hat trick, Buschman completed one of his own with back-to-back markers 13 seconds apart – both off Preston feeds – to make it 11-0 at the intermission,

Edmonds and Evan Young (Easton, Md./Broadneck) tallied unassisted markers 41 seconds apart to open the third quarter scoring.

Edmonds' third goal of the day made it 16-0 before Christopher Mohapp broke up the shutout with an unassisted tally 22 seconds later.

Buschman re-established the 16-goal advantage with a man-up goal and Jason Tosches answered with an extra-man tally of his own with 19 seconds remaining in the stanza to make it 17-2 at the end of three quarters.

Tim Sieger (Levittown, Pa./Cornwall-Egan Catholic) made it a 21-2 game with 8:57 showing before David Forte found the back of the net with 45 seconds showing to set the final margin.

Edmonds finished with four goals while Young had a pair of goals. Jed Barnes (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) picked up 11 ground balls and won 12 of 18 face-offs in his McDaniel debut.

The Green Terror, who got points form 11 different players, finished with a 64-18 advantage in the shot column.
