Dickinson Posts 17-9 Win over St. Mary's (Md.)

(Carlisle, PA) - The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team posted a 17-9 win over St. Mary's College on Saturday afternoon. The Devils pulled in front 9-4 at halftime and outscored the Seahawks 8-5 in the second half.

Sophomore midfielder Lexie Kob (Collegeville, PA/Springford) scored a career-high five goals to lead the attack. She added three ground balls and three draw controls while forcing a pair of turnovers.

Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, RI/Portsmouth Abbey) added three goals and one assist while Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) dished out three assist and scored twice. Crellin also controlled four ground balls and a pair of draws.

Abby Larson (Easton, MD/Gunston Day) chipped in with a pair of goals, causing four turnovers, controlling three ground balls and two draws. First-year Sunnie Ko (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) tallied four ground balls and three draws.

Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Kingsley (Katy, TX/Ridgefield) mae 15 saves on the afternoon.

Lauren Carrier led St. Mary's with four goals and one assist. Ella Schoming stopped eight shots.

The Red Devils improve to 1-1 on the season. They are home again on Tuesday, hosting Goucher College at 3:30 pm.

Carlisle, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-9 decision to Dickinson College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon behind five goals from sophomore Lexie Kob (Collegeville, Pa./Springford).

The Seahawks (2-2) posted a 2-1 lead at 22:45 on the strength of junior midfielder Lauren Carrier's (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) two unassisted goals. However, a 5-0 Dickinson run that included two from Kob and a pair from sophomore midfielder Abby Larson (Easton, Md./Gunston) gave the Red Devils a four-goal advantage at 11:56.

Junior attacker Emily Norris (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) converted on a free position shot to slow down the Red Devil momentum but Dickinson (1-1) closed out the first half on a 3-1 spurt to take a 9-4 lead at halftime.

The Red Devils opened up the second stanza with two goals before St. Mary's tallied three straight with two from Carrier and one from Norris to trail 11-7 at 15:45. Back-to-back goals from junior attacker Amy Jennings (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) gave DC a six-goal margin at 14:47.

St. Mary's sophomores Karisa Carroll (Long Island, N.Y./Ward Melville) and Kelsey Branch (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) scored the next two goals before the Red Devils notched four goals in the game's last 2:30.

Larson ended the day with her two first-half goals, while Jennings finished with five points on two goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) netted a hat trick and an assist, while junior midfielder Dana Bunting (Bishopville, Md./Worcester Prep) contributed two goals and an assist.

Dickinson outshot the Seahawks, 35-28, and claimed 33 of 59 ground balls, while St. Mary's won 16-of-28 draw controls.

Carrier had a four-goal, one-assist effort, while Norris scored twice and dished out two assists. Carroll had game-highs of eight ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Junior Caitlin Kingsley (Katy, Texas/Ridgefield [Conn.]) recorded 15 saves in the loss, while freshman Ella Schoming (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) made eight stops in the St. Mary's loss.

The Seahawks hope to return to the win column next Wednesday, March 5 when St. Mary's hosts Capital Athletic Conference newcomer, Hood College, at 3:00 in Seahawk Stadium.
